Hotel Emma

Spring in San Antonio, Texas

Event Design by Sweet August Events

The Vision

From the start, the goal was clear: a reception that felt like an intimate, elevated dinner party. Thoughtful and refined, without feeling overproduced or precious. Paula offered trust more than we could have dreamt for, which ultimately led to a more cohesive, considered result, a celebration shaped by collaboration, trust, and a shared design language — one that felt both personal and effortlessly refined.

The Venue

There’s a quiet confidence that comes with choosing a place you already know and love. For Paula and Alfonso, Hotel Emma was a natural setting for their celebration — a space they returned to often, and one that needed little convincing to feel meaningful.

The Reception

The design came together through close collaboration between ourselves and Sweet August Events, wanting to respond to the architecture and create a real mood for space. We landed on using draping to soften the scale of the room and create a sense of warmth and intimacy which our amazing event collaborator Sweet August Events executed perfectly. The design had room to breathe.

The Florals

Rather than dictating specific blooms, the floral design was guided by what was in season, with an emphasis on a natural, wildflower sensibility — unexpected in form, yet intentional in tone. The arrangements were composed entirely of Texas-grown blooms, with every stem locally sourced. Seasonality and place shaped the palette and textures, resulting in florals that felt wildly expressive, and deeply connected to nature.
